Holy Cross Parish will be presenting "Five Pillars of the Spiritual Life", a series of video presentations by Fr. Robert Spitzer S.J., on six consecutive Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. beginning on October 19, 2009. All parishioners and interested members of the public are invited to take part.

The 6th annual parish pig roast, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, will take place Friday, September 18th, 2009 in the parish hall. Tickets will be sold after all Masses on September 5-6, so be sure to get yours early as it's going to be a sell-out.

Tickets are $15 per person and FREE for children 12 years and younger. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and dinner starts at 7:00 p.m.

Come early and enjoy some fellowship with the Knights.

Children's Liturgy will start again on Sunday, September 13th, 2009 at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. All children ages 4-12 are welcome to attend.

The liturgy follows the regular Mass, including a reading, the Gospel, a homily, prayers of the faithful and the Apostles' Creed. Parents of the younger children are welcome to attend if that will help their child be more comfortable.

We are looking for musicians to accompany the singing. Volunteers are also needed to help set up the environment, to do the readings and to lead the services.

The Holy Cross Youth Group will be holding their second fall retreat on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the church hall.

The retreat will focus on the importance of being part of a Catholic community and will feature a teaching Mass celebrated by Fr. James. The featured speaker is Brother Steven Boucher, o.p. Members of the youth group who attended last year's retreat will remember Brother Steven's dynamic talk about the importance of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Catholics.

The Holy Cross Parish Youth Group held their third car wash in recent years at the Sunday morning Masses on August 30, 2009. They extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parishioners who supported their efforts so generously.

A portion of the contributions to this fund raising event will go to support one of the group's members who is spending a year with NET Ministries of Canada. The remainder will support the group's parish activities throughout the remainder of the year.
