Holy Cross parishioners will once again be on Parliament Hill for the National March for Life, a yearly event sponsored by Campaign Life Coalition. Started 20 years ago, the March has become the largest rally on Parliament Hill. Last year 20,000 people were there. This year’s theme is “Life, We Stand on Guard for Thee.” Let us stand on guard for all life from conception to natural death.
A team of Friendly Visitors has been trained to bring the human compassion of friendship to home-bound frail elders and caregivers.
This dedicated group of volunteers at Holy Cross Parish has designed and pioneered a model of appropriate Christian Caring. Their work has been carried out with the cooperation of the Archdiocesan Office of Social Justice in Pastoral Services.
On September 11, 2016, Archbishop Terrence Prendergast joined the clergy and parishioners of Holy Cross Parish to celebrate the parish's feast day, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
The celebration began with silent veneration of the cross at 9:00 a.m., followed by Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m. and a procession. Entertainment included performances by the parish's musicians, games and treats for the children, and a barbecue lunch prepared by the Hospitality Committee and Knights of Columbus.
In a moving and instructive ceremony during the 9:30 Mass on August 14, 2016, Fr Dominic Jose, CMF, was installed as Parochial Administrator of Holy Cross Parish by Fr Geoffrey Kerslake, Epsicopal Vicar of the Archdiocese of Ottawa.
Prior to the installation ceremony, Tom Flynn, Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council, read the proclamation from Archbishop Terrance Predergast, appointing Fr Dominic to his new position.
Holy Cross Parish is pleased to welcome our new pastor, Fr. Dominic Jose CMF. We look forward to praying and working together with him.
