At a Farewell Mass and Reception on July 24, 2016, parishioners said farewell to our long-serving pastor, Fr. James Raphel.
Fr. James served at Holy Cross Parish since 2004. During that time, Fr. James worked tirelessly and cheerfully to build the faith life and social life of our community. On behalf of the parish community, the Parish Pastoral Council prepared a special message to Fr. James:
"The Holy Cross Parish Pastoral Council thanks you for your twelve years of spiritual leadership.
We have been blessed with your guidance and on-going support, resulting in the flourishing of the spiritual and community life of the parish, including the Faith Formation Program, the Parish Feast, plus numerous events that are organized by the many groups in the parish that all contribute to a vibrant Christian community.
With your full support, Holy Cross has been able to sponsor a Syrian refugee family. We eagerly await the family’s arrival, and we will be sure to let them know that you were vital to their sponsorship. It is but one of the many examples of the parish fulfilling Christ’s mission during your time with us.
We have many fond memories of your time as our pastor. You will be in our prayers as you take up your new duties at Holy Redeemer Parish."
