Holy Cross Celebrates Parish Feast with Archbishop Prendergast

Procession during Holy Cross Parish Feast, September 11, 2016

On September 11, 2016, Archbishop Terrence Prendergast joined the clergy and parishioners of Holy Cross Parish to celebrate the parish's feast day, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

The celebration began with silent veneration of the cross at 9:00 a.m., followed by Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m. and a procession. Entertainment included performances by the parish's musicians, games and treats for the children, and a barbecue lunch prepared by the Hospitality Committee and Knights of Columbus.

As noted in our parish history, the formation of the parish was announced fifty years ago. "On September 14, 1966 (the feast of the Triumph of the Cross), Archbishop Lemieux made the announcement of the formation of this new parish, to be followed a few weeks later by the official decree and the appointment of Fr. Francis French as the pastor."
