Pilgrims on a Journey - Golden Jubilee Anthem

Holy Cross Parish Golden Jubilee

Holy Cross Parish begins our Golden Jubilee year commemorating the first Holy Mass celebrated in this church on March 23, 1969. We begin our year-long anniversary program with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Christian Riesbeck at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, March 18.

PILGRIMS ON A JOURNEY’ is a song composed by Maureen Monaghan, Alice Templin and Anne Hurley for the Golden Jubilee. The chorus is centered around Micah 6:8 – “This is what God asks of you; to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.” The lyrics incorporate who we are as a community and also where we are going from here (our beautiful altar tapestry depicts this well – we are diverse individuals, journeying together). Since the song talks about being on the road together, the music is rhythmical, celebrational and has an anthem feel to it. Hopefully, it will inspire everyone to sing out with all our choirs and musicians, in praise and thanksgiving for this wonderful community.

Many thanks to Armando Prini (from St. Francis Studios, who leads the Youth Mass music) and Sheila Shields (long time parishioner and 9:30 choir member) for recording this music clip.

We are pilgrims on a journey
With the Spirit as our guide
We are called to walk together
Hand in hand and side by side
To act justly to all other
With a love tender and true
To walk humbly with our God
And be Light in all we do.

Verse 1
Hearts full of gratitude
Singing songs of praise
Celebrating joyfully
Blessed by God every day

Verse 2
On the road together
Mindful of our past
Drawing strength from each other
Building faith that will last
