Holy Cross Parishioners once again displayed their concern and generosity at the recent MPD fall food drive. A total of 194 bags of groceries donated by parishioners were sorted and delivered to the local food banks that serve needy families in our area.
Archbishop Prendergast confirmed 26 young people from Holy Cross Parish on the evening of Monday, May 26, 2014. The children were accompanied by their sponsors, family members, friends and fellow parishioners. A reception in the parish hall followed the ceremony.
The students had attended Confirmation classes, organized by Tom Flynn. Five preparation sessions were held for parents and children. They explored important aspects of the Catholic faith:
A sacred image of Mary as the Immaculate Conception, the centrepiece of the Knights of Columbus Marian Prayer Program, is at Holy Cross Parish from late December until January 1, the Feast of Mary, Mother of God. The sacred image will be on display at all Masses on the weekend of December 28-29, and again at the Masses on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Parishioners and visitors are invited to spend time in prayer before the image.
The Mission, Peace and Development committee (MPD) sponsored an educational gathering in the parish hall on Sunday, November 24 to inform parishioners of the adverse effects of mining practices by Canadian companies in foreign countries. The event included a photo display featuring individuals and families who have been affected in Peru, Honduras, Philippines and Madagascar.
Our Annual CHRISTMAS CRAFT & BAKE SALE will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013 in the parish hall from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. You will be sure to find some gift ideas for Christmas. African Angels, Fair trade tea & coffee, Christmas cakes, jewellery and handmade crafts are just a few of the items available for sale.
