The Youth Group’s Spaghetti Dinner was a sold-out success! Parishioners filled the parish hall on the evening of January 26, 2008 to enjoy spaghetti with home-made sauce and all the trimmings, live entertainment and a series of door prizes.

The members of the Youth Group were responsible for all aspects of the event: they prepared the publicity, sold tickets, shopped for the food, set up and decorated the hall, provided the entertainment, worked the kitchen and completed the cleanup.

After the dinner, the Knights of Columbus presented the Youth Group with a cheque for $200 to defray expenses.

On behalf of the Youth Group, Robin Goski thanked the Knights for their contribution and support in buying tickets. She also thanked the parish staff for helping with ticket sales, Fr. James and Fr. Lukose for their encouragement, the Hospitality Committee for its advice and contribution of meat, the parents who helped with the arrangements, and all the parishioners who supported the event.

The Spaghetti Dinner was the latest in this energetic group’s series of events. Parishioners will remember that the Youth Group washed cars in the parking lot during Sunday morning Masses in September, hiked in Gatineau Park in October, served at the Parish Supper in November, distributed candy canes to the young children and attended Handel’s Messiah at the NAC in December. The Group’s next event will be an afternoon of sledding in February.

The Holy Cross Parish Youth Group is open to all young parishioners high school age and older; younger children are also welcome to take part in many of their events.
