Eucharistic Procession for the Feast of Corpus Christi

Deacon John and Fr James kneel in adoration

To mark the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, Holy Cross Parish held a Eucharistic Procession after the 9:30 Mass on Sunday, May 25, 2008. During his homily, Deacon John Kennedy stressed that the procession symbolized our dedication to carrying Christ into the world.

Fr James had announced the purpose of the procession in the parish bulletin:

"My dear Brothers and Sisters, the celebration of the Eucharist is the very heart of parish life, like a family around the table. It is a very significant event that the 49th International Eucharistic Congress is going to be held in our country (Quebec City—from June 15-22). The theme or the catch word of this Congress is: 'The Eucharist, gift of God for the life of the world.'

In this context it is apt and fitting that our parish is going to have a Eucharistic Procession on the Corpus Christi Sunday after the 9:30 Mass."

The procession was led by an honour guard from the Knights of Columbus, the cross-bearer and flag-bearers. Parishioners carried lighted candles. The procession was followed by a Benediction service.
