Detail of Candle Holder

In 1994, Fr. Tom Riopelle, the then Pastor of Holy Cross Parish, took some initiatives to add aesthetic improvements to the Church. One of the outstanding features is the tabernacle area. The central part of the stained glass window represents the Ark of the Covenant in which the people of the Old Testament carried the Holy of Holies (2 Samuel 6:14). It is encircled by the wings of Angels hovering protectively around it.

The stand with the Star of David and the Cross, in the form of a Jewish menorah with six large candle holders, is very symbolic of the Judeo-Christian tradition.

The ornamental metal gate around the tabernacle area, the metal stands for the Altar candles, the Easter candle and the blue-grey tiles installed on the wall behind the altar carry the themes and colours throughout the rest of our sacred space.

The artwork was designed and made by Tony MacPartland, a skilled metal worker and a former parishioner of Holy Cross Parish.
